Reel Sports Fantasy Football Commissioner Report 1.0
Weeks 1-2 Recap
Hear ye, hear ye! Gather round, fantasy faithful. The first commissioner’s report of the 2025-26 NFL season is here. The cream’s already rising while the usual floaters barely scrape by. But with just two weeks gone, who really knows how this will shake out? Let the scroll be unrolled.
First and foremost, our commissioner reports will now live on my personal Substack, Belly of the Well. It’s a way to feed the blog a little extra content and to give the outside world a peek inside our inaugural fantasy football league, Reel Sports Fantasy Football.
Before we dive into Week Three drama, here’s some rules, regulations, and team owners.
Rules & Regulations
We’re running a standard .5 PPR league with a tight end premium—TEs earn extra credit for catches and first downs. Rosters feature a three–wide receiver set, include Independent Defensive Players (IDP), and yes, we still use kickers (with fractional scoring). Sleeper App.
Our main goal is full owner retention, keeping every team active and talking trash all season long, especially during live games. This year also kicks off our Keeper League format: before next season’s draft, each team can carry one player over from their current roster.
The Team Owners
Rather than spill everyone’s life story, I’ll stick to what counts: who they root for “in real life.” The rest will come out as these commissioner reports drop every couple of weeks.
I ride with the Buffalo Bills, and while the Chicago Bears search for their mojo I have temporarily pulled Mac onto the Bills bandwagon. We sit 7th and 8th for now. We have two New Orleans Saints fans, Caleb and Dillion (12th and 2nd), which still feels like a curveball. No fantasy league is complete without Green Bay Packers representation, so of course we have two: Jordan in 1st place and Spencer in 6th.
Newcomer Nolan backs the Minnesota Vikings and holds 3rd (for now). Our reigning champ John roots for the Los Angeles Rams and is in fourth. Conley, another newcomer, brings the biggest wildcard energy with his love for the Daniel Jones–led Indianapolis Colts, sitting at 5th.
Jacob is all about the Denver Broncos, while Chanze and Griffin remain mysteries. No one is quite sure where their real NFL loyalties lie. We just know, we don’t want either of them to win the championship.
Week 1 Recap
The season opened with some serious fireworks, starting with yours truly. My squad beat Griffin 178–138, powered by big games from Justin Herbert and Derrick Henry.

Nolan topples Chanze 157-128

Looking Ahead
By the end of this week we’ll have our first 0–3 team, as Caleb and Chanze square off. Both are itching to shake up their rosters, so if you’re shopping trades, start there. Old foes Adam and Jacob meet for the first time since last season, with plenty of bragging rights on the line.
Other matchups (Week 3)
Mac (1-1) versus Conley (1-1)
John (1-1) versus Spencer (1-1)
Dillion (2-0) versus Griffin (0-2)
Game of the Week
The marquee matchup features the two remaining 2–0 squads, Jordan and Nolan, a duel that foreshadows their Week 13 finale. Jordan leans on a two-headed backfield of James Cook and Jahmyr Gibbs, already producing nearly double the touchdowns of most teams.
Keep an eye on Dillion, too. Quietly 2–0, he’s aiming to hand Griffin a third straight loss and stay in the unbeaten conversation.
Other Updates
The keeper settings vote is in. Here’s how it shakes out:
One keeper per team can be retained at the previous year’s draft-round value.
No Round Restrictions on which player you keep.
No Limit on keeper seasons. Keep the same player for as long as you want.
As Caleb suggested, we’ll add at least one more IR spot to each bench next season. And, before next season’s draft we’ll also vote on allowing a second keeper for the following year.
The Reely Cool Stuff
This section is where every team owner can showcase creative work beyond fantasy football. Our league is full of talented people from all walks of life, and several are serious artists who deserve the spotlight. In the second commissioner report, keep an eye on this space.
For now, here are some “reely” cool Josh Allen highlights from his MVP season last year:
